Welcome to my Miniature World!
...and thank you for visiting my online portfolio.
As a self-taught artist, sculpting has been a pleasurable and challenging hobby of mine for over 35 years. The miniature animals you see in my gallery are the result of attending a dollhouse miniature show in 1987. I was so inspired by some of the artisan displays and detailed, quality workmanship, that I was determined to try my hand at sculpting in 1:12 scale (one inch = one foot). In an effort to make my polymer clay animals appear more life-like, I experimented with applying glue and fibers to my sculptures. Over time, I developed my own technique using natural fibers of alpaca, mohair, silk & wool. I enjoy the creative process, and strive to make each one of my animals distinctive in detail and character. As one-of-a-kind, original works of art, the entire process, from “original sculpture design to final clip” can take numerous hours to complete.
In 2001, I achieved Artisan status for animal figures in the International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA) - an organization which promotes miniatures as an art form. In 2004, I was honored with Fellow membership within the Guild. Today, I balance my life and miniature hobby with wonderful, supportive family & friends... and a spoiled miniature schnauzer named Raleigh. As a result, I create my sculptures on a “part-time” basis. This arrangement keeps me sane and my sculpture “fresh and enjoyable.” Smiles, Kerri ![]()
